Fill #2 - all is good!

I don't think this qualifies me a a "seasoned bandee", but I went in for my second fill this morning. I can't believe how non-stressed I was this time! I apparently have a very easy to feel port, so Dr. D asked if I would let his P.A. build up some confidence on an "easy case". Only slightly worried with the prospect of having a "newbie" poke me, I said, "Why not?!" All was just fine. I got an additional 1.5cc's in for a new total of 4.5cc's in my 10cc band. I am looking forward to a little restriction actually. I will stick to the rules and not push it for a bit at least. I measured out my portion tonight and I do feel satisfied.

This morning I saw this segment on the Today show with a woman who was featured on a show called "What's Eating You?". She had a lap-band and lost a considerable amount of weight and now a days spent her time eating as much soft, mushy, food (mashed potatoes and gravy and butter and ice-cream....) as possible out of compulsion. I felt so sad for her. I feel so fortunate that my head and body have come together on this journey. It just reminds me that this is a tool to help my body, I must keep reminding myself to keep my head in check even when I feel confident and cocky.

So it seemed very appropriate that Dr. D encourages me to avoid eating any thick liquid type food (yogurt, shakes/smoothies, mashed potatoes etc). He wants me to eat solid protein (meat/beans), veggies, fruit, then carbs very minimally. He has found that his patients who avoid the "slider foods" have a better results even with less restriction. I do have yogurt as a treat, but I feel more satisfied with more bulk I guess. Has anyone who has been banded for a while followed a similar plan with good success?
